Environmental Teaching Lab

The Environmental Teaching Laboratory in Hollister Hall is a flexible facility designed for bench scale experiments and analysis of environmental samples and processes. The facility hosts an automated water treatment plant design competition for upper level undergraduates, and a biocatalysis laboratory for graduate students. The facility is equipped with:

  • Computers at each workstation for data acquisition and process control
  • Networked plug and play sensors including pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and pressure with remote monitoring capabilities
  • Microprocessor driven outputs for automated control of experiments including drinking water treatment plants, bioreactors, and anaerobic digesters for methane production
