Spring. 3 credits.

Prerequisite: Applied System Engineering MAE 5910CEE 5240ECE 5120ORIE 5140, SYSEN 5100 or SYSEN 5110, or permission of instructor. Core course for Systems Engineering majors. Students majoring in Systems Engineering enroll in SYSEN 5200. Students taking the minor in Systems Engineering enroll in MAE 5920, CEE 5252ECE 5130, or ORIE 5142. Students in distance learning programs enroll in SYSEN 5210. Course is identical for all versions.

This is an advanced course in the application of the systems engineering process to the architecture design and operation of complex systems. Topics include techniques for design, simulation, optimization, and control of complex systems. Case studies and system simulations in diverse areas provide context for the application of these techniques.
