I am interested in numerical optimization, especially the development of efficient derivative-free global optimization algorithms for finding (near) optimal solutions for computationally expensive black-box optimization problems. I am focusing on using surrogate/response surface models, and I am interested in continuous, discrete, and mixed-integer optimization applications of all kinds. In the course of my research I addressed applications arising in vehicle routing, structural optimization, renewable energy (hydropower, kite), watershed management, optimal reliability design, and global climate models. I am also working on parallel implementations of the algorithms I developed in the past.
