Access this dialog from the Registered Resources/Libraries dialog to make a new library available for management in CommonSpot.
When registering resources it's a best practice to include the version number in the name and then create a generic alias without the version, so you can easily upgrade without having to rename all references. For example use the name ‘MyExternalLibrary 126.96.36.199’ to register the resource, then create an alias named MyExternalLibrary so you can quickly point all references to MyExternalLibrary to a different version when it becomes available.
Avoid mixing plugins and themes with the registration for core objects. For example, a registration for JQueryUI should not include JQuery itself or any themes. JQuery should be registered (and requested) independently.
This dialog displays the following:
Name: Required. Enter the resource name.
Description: Optional. Enter a helpful text description.
Use this section to set load order within the Early (<head>) or Late Loading (bottom) sections of the page. CommonSpot groups resources within each section using the order you set here, loading Primary resources first, Secondary second, etc.
Use the first three options to set load order for resources known to CommonSpot, and use the Custom category to identify libraries you load explicitly, through a .head file, base template, or other custom code.
Pick an option and then enter the path for each library associated with this resource below. Do not enter a URL path for Custom resources handled outside of CommonSpot.
Early Loading Resources
CommonSpot loads these resources in the <head> section of the page.
For each resource you want to load from the <head> section, enter a fully qualified or server-relative path in the URL field, then click the Add button. You can specify a local or CDN path. A single resource can load content from multiple sources.
Next, pick the resource type from the dropdown and specify whether to combine multiple resource files (default) and/or minify them. Combining (default) reduces the number of HTTP requests used. Minifying removes white space to compress or "minify" files to reduce size and improve load time. Both of these options can improve load time. In order for individual resource URL settings to take effect, enable these options globally through Resources/Libraries General Settings.
Note: You cannot minify or combine CDN or non-local resources. You can only minify or combine resources that CommonSpot can read from disk.
Late Loading Resources
CommonSpot loads these resources at the bottom of the page.
For each resource you want to load just befor the close body tag, enter a fully qualified or server-relative path in the URL field, then click the Add button. You can specify a local or CDN path. CommonSpot can load resources from multiple sources. Next pick the resource type from the dropdown and specify whether to combine multiple URLs (default) and/or minify resources. Combining reduces the number of HTTP requests and JS/CSS bandwidth used. Minifying removes white space to compress or "minify" files, to reduce size and improve load time. Sites can enable these options globally through Resources/Libraries General Settings.
Note: You cannot minify or combine CDN resources or any resource that is not server-relative.
If you have distribution rights, enable the Redistributable option, and optionally enter any notes in the Instructions field.
If you do not have distribution rights, leave the Redistributable option unchecked (default), and document how to get this resource in the Instructions field. CommonSpot only includes redistributable libraries in export packets.
Enter an alternate name for this resource in the New Alias field, then click the Add button. Click the remove icon to delete an alias and create a new one.
