Gloria Andrea Aguirre was born in Monterrey, Mexico, but moved to Houston, Texas with her family at the age of 12. She lived in Houston until the age of 21, after finishing an Associate of Applied Science in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Then, she moved to Dallas, Texas to attend Southern Methodist University, where she obtained a B.S. in Environmental Engineering. Soon after graduating, she started at Cornell University in the area of Environmental and Water Resources Systems Engineering and is currently working in uncertainty analysis for geothermal energy resource assessments in the Eastern U.S. She will be obtaining an M.S. in May 2012, and has plans to continue on to a PhD in the same area.
