Description

Tony Ingraffea, Ph.D., P.E.
Dwight C. Baum Professor of Engineering Emeritus
Weiss Presidential Teaching Fellow at Cornell University

This is the second of three closely-coupled presentations on the overarching topic of the ongoing national energy transition. This presentation will contain:

  • A brief summary of the first presentation;
  • A brief overview of the current science on climate change;
  • The time-scale for action to address climate change;
  • How development from shale has impacted the production of oil and gas; and
  • How such development has impacted methane and carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere.

Ingraffea will then preview the third presentation in which he will address the impacts of unconventional oil and gas on the demand for, and development of, renewable energy supplies.
