CEE Alumnus Daene C. McKinney Elected to World Water Council
Daene McKinney CEE '90 was recognized in the ASCE News monthly PEOPLE issue for December 2012. McKinney received M.S. (1986) and Ph.D. (1990) degrees in Water Resources Engineering from Cornell University's School of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Upon graduation, McKinney moved on to become a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he currently teaches courses dealing with fluid mechanics, numerical methods, surface and groundwater hydrology, and transboundary water resources.
On November 19, 2012, McKinney was named an alternative governor of the World Water Council, after serving as chair of the Activities Committee. The World Water Council was established in 1996, and plays a major role on the global stage in fostering a political commitment to efficient management of water on an environmentally sustainable basis and in raising public awareness in this area.
