William Pennock, Ph.D. Candidate in Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been selected as a final round participant in Cornell’s 4th annual 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition! The three-minute thesis competition is Wednesday, March 21, at 4:30pm, Room G10 in the Biotech building.

“Better models will lead to better water treatment designs for the world" is the working title of his presentation. Says Pennock, “I will be speaking about the value of water treatment and our ongoing need to research and understand drinking water treatment processes in order to optimize them and make them available to a world that lacks clean water.”

The 3MT challenges graduate students to present their research in three minutes to a non-specialist audience. Competitors are scored based on audience engagement, audience comprehension and their own communication skills.
