Experience and Employment

Graduation and Beyond

There is a wide array of opportunities available to civil and environmental engineers. Many of the graduates from CEE go on to pursue graduate degrees while others begin their professional careers. A year of graduate study is a great choice for students wishing to augment their undergraduate coursework in a particular specialty area. The CEE School’s Master of Engineering degree program is an excellent option for students interested in advanced study.

Employers for CEE graduates include private consulting firms; industrial firms of all types (including aerospace and manufacturing); governmental agencies at the local, state and national level; construction firms; and research and development groups. Developing countries have a very strong need for civil and environmental engineers because the majority of their basic development needs fall within the domain of the civil and environmental engineer. Many CEE graduates own their own companies. The promise of personal satisfaction and financial gain from these types of positions is very high.
