Semester Tuition

Fellowships

Cornell Engineering awards several merit-based fellowships to top applicants. Fellowships are only awarded to students who apply for Fall admissions. The Structural Engineering M.Eng. program offered ten fellowships to the 2023 class.

Knight Fellowship

Lester B. Knight believed that leaders in the engineering profession require a strong foundation in business, and that leaders in business benefit from a strong foundation in engineering. The Lester B. Knight Scholarship is designed to assist and encourage top students to earn M.Eng. and MBA degrees at Cornell. The scholarship is the result of a generous gift by Mr. Knight and the continuing support of his family. Students do not need to pursue an MBA beyond the M.Eng. to be eligible and international students can apply.

The Knight Fellowship can provide up to $60,000 in tuition support. Knight Scholars enrolled as on-campus students in the M.Eng. degree program receive a $15,000 tuition award per semester for up to two semesters. Upon completion of the M.Eng. degree, an additional $30,000 is available to Knight Scholars who go on for an MBA at the Johnson School.

GEM Fellowship Program

The GEM fellowship is a one (1) year fellowship for Ph.D. and M.Eng. underrepresented domestic students supported via a partnership between Cornell Engineering (Ithaca campus only) and the National GEM Consortium.

Cornell Engineering Scholarships: Master of Engineering Committee (MEC) and Dean’s Fellowships

These merit-based scholarships are awarded to the most outstanding applicants to the M.Eng. degree program across all fields in Cornell Engineering. All applicants who apply before February 1 are considered by the Master of Engineering Committee.

MEC Scholars receive a $10,000 tuition award per semester for up to two semesters while enrolled as on-campus graduate students in the M.Eng. degree program.

Cornell Engineering Dean’s Scholars receive up to full-tuition. The amount of the award is based on merit and availability of funds.

Knight Fellowship Details

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Knight Scholarship, an applicant should be either:

Entering into the Cornell Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree program -OR- A Cornell M.Eng. graduate entering into an MBA degree program at the Johnson School. International students are eligible to apply for this award.

Students in the M.Eng. degree program with Knight Scholarships are eligible to receive additional funding if they pursue an MBA at the Johnson School up to five years after completion of the M.Eng. degree. Details: Knight Scholarship Program

Cornell Engineering and the Johnson School each make their admission decisions independently, but the scholarship decision is made jointly by both colleges.

Application

To be considered, students need to complete an online application for admission, write a 500-word essay and submit a one-page resume. The essay should describe experiences that motivated you to pursue engineering and business, student's interests and achievements, and his/her future career goals. This essay should be distinct from the applicant’s Statement of Purpose in the online application for admission.

For M.Eng. applicants, the Knight Scholarship application is part of the M.Eng. online application for admission.

Deadline

The application deadline is February 1, 11:59 pm Eastern Time. Admitted applicants will receive a notification about their award together with, or soon after, their offer of admission. Late applications will not be considered.

GEM Fellowship Details

Cornell Engineering (Ithaca, NY campus only) is a member of the GEM Consortium. Cornell Engineering offers one (1) year of fellowship support for GEM fellows. Please note that PhD Students may be awarded both the GEM and either a Sloan or Colman Fellowship.

Fellowship Structure:

Cornell Engineering GEM fellowships (MEng & PhD) may be offered as follows:

Full Fellow –
- Tuition & Fees, Stipend and Health insurance for one year or three semesters with an internship by Corporate Sponsor
Associate Fellow –
- Tuition & Fees, Stipend, and Health insurance for one year or three semesters
University Fellow –
- Tuition & Fees for one year or three semesters

To be eligible for nomination for a Cornell Engineering GEM Fellowship, students must be a U.S. citizen and identify as:

Cornell Engineering Scholarships Details

Eligibility

Applicants are nominated for Cornell Engineering Scholarships by their graduate field, and selections are made by the Master of Engineering Committee. These are merit-based awards to the most outstanding M.Eng. degree applicants across all College of Engineering programs.

Application

All M.Eng. applicants will automatically be considered for Cornell Engineering scholarships as part of the standard application process, with no supplemental information required. A separate financial aid application is not required.

Deadline

To be considered for Cornell Engineering Scholarships, students are encouraged to have a complete M.Eng. application on file by February 1. Students whose applications are received after the preferred deadline may be considered for financial aid subject to availability of funds.
